The Queen City just can’t get enough indie craft. We are overjoyed to announce Cincinnati’s second Crafty Supermarket will take place at the Clifton Cultural Arts Center from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010. We expect to have more than 40 craft vendors, food vendors, a live DJ from PROJECTMILL, do-it-yourself craft activities and more.

Crafty Supermarket will have even more of the awesome crafts you experienced at the first show! The deadline for craft vendor applications is March 1. You can apply to be a vendor here!

We’re also seeking sponsors, volunteers and donations to make this show as awesome as possible. Check out our FAQ page for info!

thank you, thank you, thank you!

I’d say Crafty Supermarket was an amazing success! We had more than 1,000 shoppers come out the day of the show—there were even 100 people in line to get in when we finally opened our doors! (Extra thanks to the first woman in line, who showed up around 10:30 a.m. and held the door for crafters loading their stuff into the Tavern.) Needless to say, the 50 swag bags were gone within minutes of noon.

A huge thanks to all the shoppers—where the heck did you all come from? Your enthusiasm was absolutely radical.

And I’ve got to give an extra big thanks to our sponsors, who made it possible to reach out to the community and do some craft education!

But the biggest thanks goes to the crafters—you guys rocked it hard.

People kept asking when our next show was going to be. Some even suggested Crafty Supermarket should be monthly. (whoa!) We definitely want this to be an annual event, at the very least! We’re going to regroup and set up an e-mail list and get our stuff together. Stay subscribed to the blog, and you’ll be among the first to know when the next show hits.

Stay crafty!

Our practice is based on a passion for multidisciplinary theory and research, which we translate to visual language inscribed onto paper, screen, and the environment. We visualize aspects of places through self-authored and commission based work. By keeping our operation compact and flexible, we are able to deeply explore the idiosyncrasies of hyper-localized cultural production, focusing on Cincinnati and beyond.

Born in Gdynia, Poland and raised in Gdynia and Brooklyn, Maya Drozdz received her BA in Philosophy+Critical Theory from Cornell University and her MFA in 2D Design from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Her interests center on graphic design theory, particularly its intersection with popular culture and the urban environment. Her professional experience includes identity, print, interaction, and environmental design, as well as teaching, lecturing, writing, and curating worldwide design exhibits.
